De Pere, Wisconsin
A little corner of the internet for our family — updates from De Pere, what we've been up to, and the things that matter to us.
What's new
We finished the flag football season last weekend and I'm still riding the high. Watching 10-year-olds go from not knowing a snap count to running actual routes over the course of a season — that never gets old.
The forecast said 18 inches. We got closer to 24. Power stayed on, the kids thought it was the greatest thing that's ever happened, and I learned that our snowblower has real limits.
January is for ambitious plans. This year's project is still TBD but the Pinterest board is getting full. More to come once we commit to something we'll actually finish.
Three family gatherings, one too many Christmas cookies, a board game that nearly ended a relationship, and a very good year to look back on. We're lucky people.
Who we are
We're a family based in De Pere, Wisconsin — a genuinely great place to raise kids, endure winters, and feel like you're part of something. This site is our little piece of the internet to share what's going on.
You'll find updates about life here, the occasional photo dump, and whatever's been occupying our time lately — flag football practices, home projects, and everything in between.
What we're into
Two practices a week with a group of 10-year-olds who are slowly starting to understand that football is a team sport. Deeply rewarding, occasionally chaotic, always worth it.
By day, the world of ecommerce payments — gateway infrastructure, authentication protocols, the kind of stuff that quietly powers every online purchase you've ever made.
Currently working through Pandas — boolean masking, dataframes, and more. Slowly turning data into something that makes sense. The Titanic dataset has been very helpful.
You either embrace them or you move. We've embraced them. Blizzards, frozen everything, and the particular satisfaction of a cleared driveway at 6am.
The list is always longer than the time. Slowly working through things that need doing, things that would be nice to do, and things that are probably not going to happen.
The main event. Everything else is a hobby. Updates, photos, and the general business of a household that has a lot going on at any given moment.
About this site
I'm Nicholas — based in De Pere, Wisconsin, where I work in the ecommerce payments industry, coach youth flag football, and try to keep up with everything else life throws at a household.
This site exists as a simple, honest record of what's going on with our family. No algorithm, no engagement metrics — just a place to share updates, document things we're proud of, and give family and friends a window into what we're up to.
When I'm not at work or at practice, I'm probably learning something new (currently: Python and data analysis), working on something around the house, or navigating whatever a Wisconsin winter decides to throw at us.
